The simple ground rules

Terms of Service

What you can expect from us, and what we ask from you, when you rent a car or book a driver, transfer or tour with Randerana Cabs.

Last updated: 17 October 2026

1.About these terms

These terms explain how renting a vehicle or booking a driver, transfer or tour with Randerana Cabs works. By sending us a booking request or taking one of our vehicles, you agree to them.

We have tried to keep this page short and easy to read. If something is not clear, ask us before you book. Anything we agree with you in writing, on WhatsApp or in your booking confirmation counts as part of the deal for your trip.

2.Making a booking

When you send a booking request through the website, it is a request only. Your booking is confirmed when we reply to say so, usually on WhatsApp or email, with the vehicle, dates, price and any deposit.

Please give us correct names, phone numbers and trip details. If something you tell us turns out to be wrong, we may need to change or cancel the booking.

Vehicles are shown as examples of the type you will get. If your exact car is not available on the day, we will offer you one of the same class or better, and we will tell you before you set off.

3.Prices and payment

All prices on the website are in Sri Lankan rupees (LKR). When you choose another currency in the top bar, we show an approximate figure using that day’s exchange rate, for your information only. The amount you pay is the one in your booking confirmation.

Before you pay, we tell you in writing what the price includes, such as the number of days, free kilometres per day, delivery, and the driver where you have asked for one. Anything not listed is not included. If we update our prices, the new price does not affect a booking we have already confirmed.

The payment methods we accept, and any deposit we need to hold your booking, are confirmed when we reply to your request.

4.Renting a car to drive yourself

  • Driver and licence: the person driving must hold a valid driving licence that is accepted for use in Sri Lanka and meets the requirements of the Sri Lankan authorities and the vehicle’s insurance. Please check the current rules before you travel, and ask us if you are unsure. We will ask to see your licence and your NIC or passport when you collect the vehicle.
  • Only agreed drivers: only the people named in the rental may drive. Lending the vehicle to someone else can make the insurance invalid.
  • Collection and return: you can collect the vehicle from our office at No#18 Bank Road, Badulla, or ask for delivery, which carries an extra charge we confirm beforehand. Please return it at the agreed time and place. If you need it for longer, ask us first and we will tell you whether it is possible and what it costs.
  • Kilometres: each vehicle has a free daily kilometre allowance and a charge for extra kilometres. Both are shown for your vehicle when you book.
  • Fuel: unless we agree otherwise, the vehicle is handed over with fuel and should come back with the same level.
  • Condition: we check the vehicle together at the start and end of the rental, and may take photographs. Please tell us straight away about anything you notice.

5.Airport transfers, drivers and tours

When you book a vehicle with a driver, our driver is in charge of the vehicle and may decline anything that is unsafe or against the law, such as overloading or driving where the road is not suitable for the vehicle.

Travel times we give are estimates. Traffic, weather, road works and the condition of mountain roads can all affect them. For flights, please give us your flight number so that we can follow any delay, and tell us if your plans change.

Entrance fees, safari or activity tickets and hotel stays are only included if your confirmation says so.

6.Looking after the vehicle

Whoever rents the vehicle is responsible for it until it is returned. Please:

  • drive safely, follow Sri Lankan traffic laws and never drive after drinking alcohol or using drugs,
  • keep the vehicle locked and the keys and documents safe,
  • not use it for racing, towing, off-road driving it is not made for, carrying illegal goods, or for hire to others,
  • carry no more passengers or luggage than the vehicle is designed for,
  • pay any fines, tolls and parking charges that arise during your rental, and
  • keep the vehicle clean and tell us about any warning light, noise or problem as soon as you notice it.

7.Accidents, damage and breakdowns

If there is an accident, stop in a safe place, make sure everyone is all right, call emergency services if needed, and then call or message us straight away. Please do not agree to pay anyone, and do not move the vehicle unless it is necessary for safety. Take photographs and note the other party’s details if you can. For serious accidents, the police report is needed for insurance.

If the vehicle is damaged while it is in your care, you may be asked to cover the cost of repair, or the part of it that insurance does not cover. We will tell you what the cover and any excess is before you take the vehicle, and we will show you the evidence if we ask you to pay for repairs. Damage caused by misuse, driving under the influence, or breaking the terms above may not be covered at all.

If the vehicle breaks down through no fault of yours, call us. We will arrange help or a replacement as quickly as we reasonably can.

8.Our responsibility

We will do our best to provide a safe, clean and roadworthy vehicle and a friendly, reliable service. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under Sri Lankan law that cannot be limited.

Outside of that, we are not responsible for things beyond our control, such as bad weather, road closures, strikes, flight changes, natural events, or loss of personal belongings left in the vehicle. We are not responsible for indirect losses, such as a missed connection or a lost hotel booking that results from an event beyond our reasonable control. Please arrange travel insurance for your trip.

9.Cancellations and changes

Plans change, and we understand. Our Cancellation Policy explains what happens if you cancel, change your dates or do not turn up.

10.Using our website

Please use the website honestly. Do not send fake bookings, spam, or anything harmful, and do not copy our photographs, text or logo without asking us. We try to keep the information on the site accurate and up to date, but prices, availability and details can change, and we will always confirm the facts in your booking confirmation.

11.Governing law and complaints

These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka, and the courts of Sri Lanka are the place for any dispute we cannot settle ourselves.

If something goes wrong, please tell us as early as you can, ideally while you are still travelling, so that we have the chance to put it right on the spot. If you are still unhappy afterwards, write to us and we will look into it properly.

12.Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page on the day you make your booking is the one that applies to that booking.

Questions? Talk to a real person

If anything on this page is unclear, or you would like to check something before you book, just ask. We would much rather explain it now than have a surprise later.
